Best Palworld Pal Builds

Updated 2026-08-07 · 6 min read

A Pal is only as good as its four passive skills. The right combination turns a decent Pal into a monster — and because a Pal has exactly four slots, choosing which passives to breed for matters. Here are the best builds for each role, using passives you can stack. See every passive's exact effect on the passive skills list.

Best combat build (attackers)

For a fighting Pal you want to maximise Attack while staying stable in a fight:

  • Legend — +25% Attack, +25% Defense, +15% Movement (Legendary Pals only).
  • Musclehead — +30% Attack (the work-speed penalty doesn't matter on a combat Pal).
  • Ferocious — +20% Attack.
  • Diamond Body or a matching element passive — Diamond Body stops your Pal being stun-locked; an element passive adds +% same-element damage.

On a non-legendary, swap Legend for a second defensive or element passive. Attack bonuses stack additively, so Musclehead + Ferocious alone is +50% Attack.

Best mount build (speed)

For a riding/flying mount, movement speed is king:

  • Swift — +30% Movement Speed.
  • Runner — +20% Movement Speed.
  • Nimble — +10% Movement Speed.
  • Legend or Dimensional Leap — Legend adds speed + combat stats; Dimensional Leap adds +50% speed at the cost of hunger.

Swift + Runner + Nimble alone is +60% movement. Pair with a fast base Pal like Jetragon or Frostallion — see the best mounts guide.

Best base-worker build (production)

For a Pal you'll leave crafting or producing at your base:

  • Remarkable Craftsmanship — +75% Work Speed.
  • Artisan — +50% Work Speed.
  • Lucky — +15% Work Speed (and +15% Attack).
  • Serious or Insomnia — extra work speed, or keeps the Pal working through the night.

Never put Musclehead on a worker — it cuts Work Speed by 50%. Use the base team planner to pick which Pals to give these passives to.

How to breed a 4-passive build

A baby inherits up to 4 passives from the combined pool of both parents. To reach a perfect build:

  1. Get two parents that together carry the four passives you want.
  2. Breed and keep any baby that inherited 3 of the 4.
  3. Pair that baby with another carrier of the missing passive and breed again.
  4. A perfect 4-of-4 lands roughly 10% of the time per egg once both parents carry those passives — build up 2 → 3 → 4 gradually.

Keep the species on track with the breeding calculator, and read the full method in the passive skill inheritance guide.
